I’m not okay.
I saw the Michael B. Jordan Ryan Coogler movie Sinners and I’m not okay.
In the best possible way.
What can I say without spoiling the movie except go see it.
Note: the release date was pushed back from March 7 to April 18.
If you love music, see this movie. If you love THE BLUES, see this movie. If you like some deep messages with your horror, some heart and soul, see this movie.
After leaving the theater, I was laughing, crying, doing a little jig, shrieking, pounding my little fists, in succession and all at the same time.

Words to describe this movie: thrilling, stunning, moving, funny, tragic, hopeful, frightening, chilling, cathartic, haunting.
It’s about racism, colonialism, greed and lust. It’s also about community, family, love, passion, ancestry, survival, and spirituality.
One centerpiece scene in the movie—and if you’ve seen the movie, you know which one I’m talking about, and if you haven’t seen the movie, you’ll know it when you see it—was absolutely breathtaking. When my friend and I were raving about it afterwards, we kept saying, “I’ve never seen anything like it.”
Until I see Sinners again.
