Stiletto Contest
(Unpublished category)
I wrote it on four fuchsia Post-it notes I stuck to the corkboard in my home office so I could fully process the news.
I also cried happy tears. And did a full-on Rocky dance in my backyard, humming the theme song and everything.
It was so worth spending two days of my vacation week in April cutting down a 1,500 word synopsis to 500 words to meet the contest entry criteria.
At first I stressed about changing my travel plans to arrive at the RWA Conference a day earlier so I could go to the Stiletto Party. For the past year I’ve been thinking how fun it would be to celebrate at one of those finalists awards parties at RWA, so no way was I missing out. It turned out rearranging things was super easy. Adding an extra hotel day via the RWA contest portal – cake. Instead of a change fee, I got a Southwest airline credit.
It was meant to be.
Congratulations, Shannon!
